Vehicle sales in the Philippines declined by 11.4% year-on-year to 204,557 units, weighed down by high fuel costs linked to the Middle East crisis.

Data from the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines Inc. and the Truck Manufacturers Association showed that sales in June alone fell by 8% to 37,231 units, down from 40,483 units sold in the same month in 2025.

Month-on-month, however, sales rose by 11% from 33,532 units recorded in May, making June the strongest month so far in 2026.

Despite the monthly rebound, CAMPI noted that the 8% annual decline in June was still a contraction, though milder compared to the 6.6% drop recorded in February.

Passenger car sales fell by 11.3% year-to-date to 40,503 units, while commercial vehicle sales declined by 11.4% to 164,054 units.

On a monthly basis, commercial vehicle sales dropped 13.1% year-on-year to 29,170 units, CAMPI data showed.

SALES OF ELECTRIC VEHICLES CONTINUE TO RISE

CAMPI-TMA data also showed that among all vehicle segments, electric vehicle (EV) sales continued to post strong growth.

Total EV sales more than doubled to 6,995 units in June, from 3,057 units in the same month last year.

Battery electric vehicle sales surged to 3,193 units, while plug-in hybrid sales reached 1,681 units. Hybrid vehicle sales, however, slightly declined to 2,121 units.

Among automakers, Toyota Motor Philippines remained the market leader, with 100,909 units sold from January to June 2026.

This was followed by Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corp. with 36,321 units; Suzuki Philippines Inc. with 9,262 units; Ford Motor Company with 7,435 units; and Nissan Philippines Inc. with 6,921 units sold.
