The Marcos administration has collected ₱501 billion in dividends from government-owned and controlled corporations in just four years, surpassing the combined total of three previous administrations and setting a new record in the history of Philippine public finance, Finance Secretary Frederick Go said Saturday.

Go made the disclosure in an interview on DZRH News program Special on Saturday on August 8, as part of the DZRH SONA 2026 Series featuring the Department of Finance.

“Ang mga halimbawa po ng GOCCs ay ang Landbank, ang PAGCOR, ang PCSO. Marami po, may higit na isang daang GOCCs po tayo. And we have collected a total of 501 billion in the first four years of the Marcos Junior administration,” Go said.

He provided historical context for the figure, citing that the entire Arroyo administration collected ₱84 billion from GOCCs, the Aquino administration ₱164 billion, and the Duterte administration ₱382 billion.

“That is huge. Because the entire Arroyo administration collected 84 billion, the entire Aquino administration collected 164 billion, the Duterte administration collected a total of 382 billion. And in the Marcos Jr., in the first four years, 501 billion na po tayo,” Go said.

He said the record GOCC dividend collections reflect both the improved performance of government-owned firms under the Marcos administration and a more systematic effort to ensure that profits earned by these entities flow back to the national treasury for the benefit of the public.

Go said GOCC dividends represent one of three major revenue streams for the national government alongside BIR collections and BOC collections, providing the fiscal space needed to fund the administration’s spending programs.

The Department of Finance also generated additional revenue through privatization and concession deals, with two hydroelectric power plants sold for ₱49 billion and the NAIA concession agreement yielding ₱30 billion, for a combined ₱79 billion in non-tax revenue during the Marcos administration.
